Flower Personality Test

Editor on August 3rd, 2008

I was feeling all green and decided to find out what kind of flower I am.  WOW.  Not what I was expecting, but then I’m not that much of a gardener.  Heck I don’t even know what this flower is and wouldn’t know what it looked like if they hadn’t put a picture of it up for me :)  Apparently I am a Nigella.  The highlight was that people probably think I’m odd but I think I’m eccentric.  Yeah…that’s probably true.  Also said i find new experiences fulfilling and exciting…also pretty much true.

This is a short and sweet little test.  If you want to find out what kind of flower you are check it out here then let me know!

Constitution Quiz

Editor on July 7th, 2008

I’ve been thinking a lot about politics and government and where our country is heading and so I decided to find a quiz that ran along those lines and found this Constitution Quiz.  I missed one :(  which means I got nine others right!  Apparently the average is seven something so I guess that means I’m as smart as the average kid.  There is a longer test that I’ll take later and get back to you with the information.  I thought about giving you the answers here but I’d really like for you to go take the quiz yourself.  It is so important for people to know what their rights and responsibilities are and the easiest way to do this is to understand the Constitution.  All laws are (or are supposed to be) based on the Constitution so if you understand it you’ll understand everything else.  It really bothered me that I got an answer wrong and because of that I think I am going to spend a little more time reading the Constitution and a little less time reading magazines.

How did you do on the quiz?  Were you happy or disappointed with your score?  Do you think I’m a twit for missing one of the answers? :)

IQ Test

Editor on June 17th, 2008

Now that I am moving this blog to a more educational bent I thought I’d give an online IQ quiz (or two) a go.  I had to take a real IQ test many years ago and I’ll just say that my score was somewhere between the two online quizzes :)  But hey, they are fun to take!

The first IQ test I took you can find here.  According to this IQ test my “general IQ score is 158. “

“A person whose IQ score falls in the range of 144-160 is considered to be “gifted”.

An IQ is a composite of your scores across 12 distinct aspects of intelligence. Each person has a unique intellectual make-up, with strengths and weaknesses that affect their methods of understanding, recognition, communication and association. Using a carefully cross-reference scoring scheme, TestCafe is able to accumulate a profound quantity of information about your natural intellectual abilities.”

Unfortunately they wanted me to pay for the full analysis, which I’m not going to do for something that took a few minutes :)  This is my favorite test because it says I’m smarter than any other test I’ve taken :)  Mensa, here I come!

The next IQ test I took can be found here.  I was average on all of them except verbal where I was Excellent…more on that

Your age adjusted IQ score is 112 and the average score of all test takers is 100.

According to this test you are a word wiz with a very high verbal IQ! You have probably read lots and are likely to be well aware of the numerous advantages of expressing yourself in a precise manner. You appreciate the sometimes subtle differences between words and can easily communicate to others what you really mean. Overall you have a much better understanding of the intricacies of communication than most people. Remember there is no ceiling to your knowledge and you can improve your verbal ability infinitely.

This one was a bit lower than my actual results so I don’t like it as much.  In my defense, however, we had a storm and the power went out while I was trying to take this one soooo my guess is that lowered my score.  These tests being timed and all.  I suppose then that this one is more accurate than the other.  ::sigh:: No Mensa for me :(

Speaking of Mensa.  If you take the tests and decide you are Mensa material you can visit their website here!

How did you do on your IQ test?  How accurate do you think they are?  Are you a member of Mensa, if so what’s it like being that smart?!

Career Personality Test

Editor on June 9th, 2008

Today I took a Career Personality Test to find out what type of career I would be best suited for.  I’d say overall the test did a pretty great job and if I didn’t have such an aversion to math it would have been even better.  The older I get the more I like math so maybe, by the time I’m in my sixties some of these careers would be more appealing.  Additionally, I think I could handle the work involved and perhaps even enjoy aspects of some of the careers except for the ick factor.  The ick factor?  You know, when you go ick or eww or eek when you think about having to do certain tasks…that’s the ick factor.  If you want to try this Career Personality Test for yourself you can go here.  As always my analysis of my results are in italics.

Extroversion 40% This means I’m more concerned with thinking than what is going on around me and that is totally true.  Those of you who score high on the extroversion scale are a mystery to me!

Emotional Stability 46% This made me chuckle.  I think most people think of me as a rock but people who know me really know me know I’m a softy and I just hide behind the tough girl bravado.  I’m actually a teddy bear.

Orderliness 50% Really funny.  I am one of the messiest people I know.  As stated above I’m more inside my head than noticing what is around me.  I usually don’t even see what is around me unless someone points it out.  BUT I can keep track of grades and projects like a champ, I guess that is why I’m on the fence on this one.

Altruism 43% Honestly I can’t believe I scored that high.  I like to teach others so maybe that is why it is so generous.

Inquisitiveness 73% I thought this would be higher.  I actually want to understand everything so I’m not sure how I didn’t get 100%!

You are an Architect, possible professions include:

  • strategic planning This would rock!
  • writer Doing it and loving it.
  • staff development I’d like the planning part and not like the dealing with people part.
  • lawyer Fun (I’m weird, I know) but too much work and not enough play makes it hard to be a mommy.
  • architect I helped design my house and liked it but too much math to do the technical part.
  • software designer I would like the big idea part but the coding would make me cry.
  • financial analyst Figuring out the way money was spent or how it could best be spent would be fun…the numbers not so much.
  • college professor Oh yeah.
  • photographer Do it and love it.
  • logician Maybe?
  • artist I like to create but does it really count if you don’t get paid for it?
  • systems analyst blech
  • neurologist - ick factor of operation
  • physicist -Fun but too much math
  • psychologist - I like to figure people out and I’m good at helping people but overall…too much whining
  • research/development specialist Again I like the planning.
  • computer programmer Planning good…programming bad.
  • data base manager No.
  • chemist - Way too much math
  • biologist Not so much.
  • investigator  Sounds like a good time depending on what I was investigating.

I thought this was a lot of fun and it is a good way for students or adults who are looking for a career change to get ideas about what direction their education should take.

Take the test and let me know what you think about your results!

Musical Personality

Editor on June 1st, 2008

I have been in a musical mood lately and thought I would check out what my musical style says about my personality.  It seems like the fact that I like almost all types of music tended to confuse the test a bit but it was fun nevertheless.  If you are interested in what your musical personality is  you can go here.

Here are my results with my thoughts about those results in italics.

Reflexive and Complex

People high on this dimension tend to enjoy Classical, Blues, Jazz, and Folk music. On the Reflective & Complex Dimension you fell in the 72 percentile. This score is quite high.

People with high scores on the reflective and complex music-preference dimension tend to be open to new experiences, creative, intellectual, and enjoy trying new things. Affirmative When it comes to politics, they tend to lean toward the liberal side. Not so much. Wisdom, diversity, and fine arts are all important to them.  Yes When it comes to lifestyle, high scorers tend to be sophisticated, and relatively well off financially. I’m happy where I am…as for sophisticated not sure about that one. After a hard day of work, if they’re not listening to music or reading a book, they enjoy documentary films, independent, classic, or foreign films. After work I do prefer to relax listening to music or reading…as for films…if something isn’t being blown up I’m not watching it so I’m gonna go with a no for those film choices :)

Edgy and Aggressive

People high on this dimension tend to enjoy Alternative, Rock, and Heavy Metal music. On the Edgy & Aggressive Dimension you fell in the 73 percentile. This score is quite high.

People with high scores on the energetic and aggressive music-preference dimension tend to enjoy taking risks and engaging in thrilling experiences. I’m not a huge thrill seeker. They also tend to be dominant, imaginative, and energetic. I’d say yes to all of those They tend to be politically liberal, and believe that freedom, independence, and excitement are important aspects of life. I really don’t consider myself liberal BUT I do consider freedom, independence, and intellectual excitement to be important in  my life. When it comes to lifestyle, lovers of edgy and aggressive music, tend to come from the middle to lower classes. I don’t think that’s me. As for media entertainment, they’re likely to enjoy watching action, science fiction, fantasy, war, and horror movies. These are my kinds of movies with the exception of horror…I refuse to watch it if it is horror.

Fun and Simple

People high on this dimension tend to enjoy Pop, Religious, Country, and Soundtrack music. On the Fun & Simple Dimension you fell in the 74 percentile. This score is quite high.

People with high scores on the fun and simple music-preference dimension tend to be sociable, forgiving, happy, reliable, and athletic. Not sociable, forgiving, overly happy (I’d say I am happy but not bubbly) I am reliable but not athletic. When it comes to morals and values, they tend be conservative, and consider family, salvation, and discipline important life values. I think of myself as an open minded conservative and do consider family and discipline important values…I’d need a better definition of salvation.  On those days when the cable’s on the fritz, they enjoy reading fashion or sports magazines, and watching a major motion picture, musical, western movie, or comedy movie. No for the magazines and yes for the movies.

Energetic and Upbeat

People high on this dimension tend to enjoy Hip-hop, Rap, Funk, Soul, and Electronic music. On the Energetic & Upbeat Dimension you fell in the 89 percentile. This score is very high.

People with high scores on the energetic and upbeat music-preference dimension tend to be extraverted, relaxed, romantic, creative, and physically active. Not extraverted or relaxed…I am romantic and creative… and as for physically active, well I don’t sit around all day doing nothing but I also don’t go outside and run around Friendships, freedom, and social recognition provide their lives with meaning and guidance. Sure. For a good party, fans of energetic and upbeat music, are the ones to call. I do know how to have a good time :) Compared to people who do not like energetic and upbeat music, they tend to enjoy watching action movies, science fiction movies, gangster/mobster movies, comedy movies, and erotic films. I’ll say yes to all of the films except for the last…that last one is none of your business.  :)

Overall I’d say that stereotypes are alive and well with this test but I guess they don’t get to be stereotypes without a reason.  Like I said before I think my very eclectic musical taste might be too much for a simple like or dislike kind of test but it was fun.  And sense I do like all types of music I guess it makes sense that I would have attributes from all of the stereotypes.

Go take this musical personality test for yourself and tell me what you think about your results!

Personality Tree

Editor on May 25th, 2008

Walnut Tree Well that title must have you wondering, right?  Well apparently your personality can be described by what kind of tree you are assigned by your birthday.  Confused yet?  It is like a horoscope except with a much smaller time window.  Mine was actually dead on, oddly enough!  So what is my personality tree?  I’m so glad you asked!

If you want to find out what kind of tree you are, you can go here.  I am a Walnut Tree.  I’m a nut..gotta love it.  Here is more about my personality according to my tree.

"Unrelenting, strange and full of contrasts, often egoistic, aggressive, noble, broad horizon, unexpected reactions, spontaneous, unlimited ambition, no flexibility, difficult and uncommon partner, not always liked but often admired, ingenious strategist, very jealous and passionate, no compromises."

My Analysis:

  • Unrelenting- Oh yeah.
  • Strange and full of contrasts. - So much so I won’t go into it all or you might not read my blog anymore.
  • Often egoistic - sadly, yes.
  • Aggressive - most people just say pushy, but yes.
  • Noble - Wasn’t sure about this one so I looked up the definition of noble.  Still couldn’t decide so I guess it is a matter of opinion.
  • Broad horizon - Well now are they calling me fat or saying I get the big picture?  Probably right on both.
  • Unexpected reactions - I’ve been called explosive before.
  • Spontaneous - Mmmm not so much.  I’m a planner.
  • Unlimited Ambition - Oh yeah.  My goal is to understand everything…so that’s pretty ambitious.
  • No flexibility - I’ll admit I’ve been accused of that.  BUT that’s only because I’m usually right and everyone else is usually wrong ;)  Seriously though.  I’m inflexible when I believe I’m right but I’m fine with someone trying to prove their point and if they aren’t a complete twit and present information in a new and compelling way my mind can be changed so there is some flexibility there.
  • Difficult and uncommon partner - Yeah…my poor husband.
  • Not always liked but often admired - I’d say that is probably true.
  • Ingenious strategist - Not to toot my own horn but….toot toot.  I should’ve been a military strategist I’m so good.
  • Very jealous and passionate.  - Yes.  Mine.
  • No Compromises - Why compromise?  Right is right and wrong is wrong.

Overall I really thought this little personality description was bang on.  What did you think of your tree?

Personality Test: What Kind of Dog am I?

Editor on May 18th, 2008

This is one of my all time favorites.  Probably because I’m routinely referred to as a female dog (keeping it G rated for the kiddies on the net).  So I’ve often wondered, just what kind of dog AM I?  I to this personality test here, give it a try!  It is a lot of fun.  Everything in italics is my opinion of the results.  So here we go!Terrier

No bones about it, you’re an adventurous Scottish Terrier. Woof, Woof, baby…I’m cute and tenacious…I like it so farFearless, yup feisty, yup and always up for a challenge, all kinds of a yup you like having things your way. These people have been spying on me!  seriously though, I have to have my way. Some people might even label you stubborn or headstrong. They might think it…no, I know I’m stubborn and headstrong..but usually it is because I’m right.  If someone proves to me that I’m wrong I’m willing to change my opinion. But we know you’re just ambitious and motivated. This is it exactly, I do wish everyone could see that. (Being misinterpreted is such a trial, isn’t it?) It really is a trial, I mentioned that I’m frequently referred to as a female dog but I really am a teddy bear.  I just speak my mind and am firm in my convictions and tend to not take it well when people try to take advantage of me.  Besides, your can-do attitude serves you well when facing challenges at work or in your personal life. Absolutely true. No job is too big, and absolutely no obstacle is going to stand in your way. Also true.  Once I make up my mind you’d have an easier time turning a hurricane around or stopping an earthquake.  Call it a God complex if you will *yes, I’ve been told I have a God complex* but I call it determination You’re always ready, willing, and able to rise to the challenge. A loyal, caring friend, you choose your pals very carefully,  I am a picky girl. then stick by them through thick and thin. I’d do anything for my friends, of course there aren’t that many of them so it’s easy to say that :) Woof!

I loved this little personality test.  Lots of fun!  Go take the test then tell me what kind of dog you are and what you thought about your results!

Personality Test by Color

Editor on May 11th, 2008

I found this nifty little personality test that uses color choice to tell you more about yourself.  While I think some of it was right on other parts I was a little confused about.  I was picking my favorite colors and not necessarily the ones that ’spoke’ to me so maybe that is where my glitch is.  I’ll italicize my remarks to each of the aspects of the personality test.  If you want to find out your results you can get your free personality analysis from Color Quiz

    Your Existing Situation
Sensitive; needs esthetic surroundings, or an equally sensitive and understanding partner with whom to share a warm intimacy.  Yeah that’s all me :)
          Your Stress Sources
Feels unappreciated and finds the existing situation disagreeable. Wants personal recognition and the esteem of others to compensate for the lack of like-minded people with whom to ally herself and make herself more secure. Her sensual self-restraint makes it difficult for her to give herself, but the resulting isolation leads to the urge to surrender and merge with another. This disturbs her as she regards such instincts as weaknesses to be overcome; only by not succumbing to them, she feels, can she withstand the difficulties of the situation. Wants to be valued as a desirable associate and admired for her personal qualities. I’m pretty happy with my current situation but I always want personal recognition.  I love to be praised, must’ve been a pup in a past life.  Who doesn’t want to be valued and admired, right?
          Your Restrained Characteristics
The situation is preventing her from establishing herself, but she feels she must make the best of things as they are.

Wants to broaden her fields of activity and insists that her hopes and ideas are realistic. Distressed by the fear that she may be prevented from doing what she wants; needs both peaceful conditions and quiet reassurance to restore her confidence. Dead on.  I think my goals and aspirations are realistic even when others disagree.  Peace and quiet are good!

          Your Desired Objective
Feels the situation is hopeless. Strongly resists things which she finds disagreeable. Tries to shield herself from anything which might irritate her or make her feel more depressed. Not me.  I’m feeling all kinds of hopeful these days.  I do try to shield myself from things that are irritating and depressing but…who doesn’t?
          Your Actual Problem
The need for esteem–for the chance to play some outstanding part and make a name for herself–has become imperative. She reacts by insisting on being the center of attention, and refuses to play an impersonal or minor role. Yes! I do want to play a part in something amazing and make a name for myself and it is one of my top goals at the moment.  Darn skippy I’m not playing a minor role.  And it’s ALWAYS personal :)
          Your Actual Problem #2
Depleted vitality has created an intolerance for any further stimulation, or demands on her resources. This feeling of powerlessness subjects her to agitation and acute distress. She reacts by considering that she has been victimized, and insists–with indignation, resentment, and defiance–on being given her own way. Hmm…not really.  I’m feeling more like taking on the world every day.  Not feeling agitated or distressed or victimized.  I do pretty much always insist on getting my own way though :)

I love, love, love, taking personality tests online so you’ll be seeing more of these in the near future.  Tell me what you think about my results and then head on over and take your own test and let me know if yours was more on target than mine!

        Big Five Personality Test

        Editor on April 27th, 2008

I took the Big Five Personality Test that is supposed to measure the five fundamental dimensions of personality.  Below you will find my personality test results along with what I think of the results in italics.  If you want to take the personality test yourself you can go here.

        Openness to Experience/Intellect

High scorers tend to be original, creative, curious, complex; Low scorers tend to be conventional, down to earth, narrow interests, uncreative.

        (Your percentile: 70)
You are relatively open to new experiences.  I’d say that is true IF I get to plan and research said new experience before actually having to try it ;)

        Conscientiousness

High scorers tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful; Low scorers tend to be disorganized, undependable, negligent.

        (Your percentile: 52)
You are neither organized or disorganized.  Well….If you looked at my office or house you’d probably wonder how in the world I ever find anything, but I usually can find what I need pretty easily.  My husband would definitely say I am disorganized or at least messy.

        Extraversion

High scorers tend to be sociable, friendly, fun loving, talkative; Low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet.

        (Your percentile: 64)
You are relatively social and enjoy the company of others.  I do like to do stuff with people I like but I also MUST have alone time or I get all kinds of cranky.  That might be why this score isn’t higher.

        Agreeableness

High scorers tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving, courteous; Low scorers tend to be critical, rude, harsh, callous.

        (Your percentile: 1)
You find it easy to criticize others.  WOW…yeah I think most people who know me would say I’m a little…critical.  Actually most people would probably use a much different word to describe me and I’d say they were right.  I actually work really hard to be less critical of others and of myself.  Or at least to put it politely….looks like I need to work harder on it.

        Neuroticism

High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying; Low scorers tend to be calm, relaxed, secure, hardy.

        (Your percentile: 43)
You aren’t particularly nervous, nor calm. I’m usually pretty relaxed and calm about things like traffic and with children.  But I’m not at all calm when it comes to things like bad service ;)  As long as I have a plan and feel like I’m in control I do fine.  I do worry a lot about things until I have a plan though.

Overall I think this personality test did a pretty good job of describing.  Go try the test for yourself and let me know what you think of it!  I’d love to know if I’m the only critical person out there!
