Chakra Meditation - Throat

Editor on August 15th, 2008

Here is another lovely chakra meditation video.  This one is supposed to balance your throat chakra that controls communication.  I know I can always use any help I can get in communicating more effectively.  Again, even if you aren’t interested in chakras this is still a very pretty and soothing video.  One commenter mentioned it made her sleepy, me too…but that’s a good thing :)

Chakra Mediation - Crown

Editor on August 8th, 2008

I am a huge fan of these meditations.  I think they are calming and beautiful.  This meditation focuses on opening the crown chakra. If you aren’t interested in chakras, you can still enjoy the beauty and relaxing qualities of this video.  I hope you enjoy it!

Moving Mandala Meditation

Editor on August 1st, 2008

Hello everyone!  As I’ve mentioned before I love, love, love, mandalas.  I found this moving mandal with meditation music on Youtube and had to share.  I think the images are very pretty and the way the video changes from one image to another is mesmerizing.  If you aren’t familiar with mandalas this might remind you of a musical kaleidoscope.

Did it relax you? Make you feel like a kid again?

Lightning

Editor on July 14th, 2008

I’m feeling a bit stormy today so I went over to YouTube and watched storm vids for the better part of an hour.  One of the ones I really liked (from a distance mind you, wouldn’t like it up close) was the video below.  It amazes me how many times the buildings get hit!  I want whatever they have that protects them :)

Did you enjoy your storm?  Do you like storms in general?  They make me happy as long as they aren’t too bad.

Go to the Beach

Editor on July 6th, 2008

While I can’t actually send you to the beach I found a video that is, in my opinion at least, the best thing you are going to get while sitting in front of a computer.  Go to the Beach with this wonderfully relaxing video of the sun setting into the waves.

I know I said I wasn’t going to do meditation videos anymore but dang it, I’m a chick and I can change my mind if I want to :)  Did you like the video? Does the site and sound of the beach relax you?

IQ Test

Editor on June 17th, 2008

Now that I am moving this blog to a more educational bent I thought I’d give an online IQ quiz (or two) a go.  I had to take a real IQ test many years ago and I’ll just say that my score was somewhere between the two online quizzes :)  But hey, they are fun to take!

The first IQ test I took you can find here.  According to this IQ test my “general IQ score is 158. “

“A person whose IQ score falls in the range of 144-160 is considered to be “gifted”.

An IQ is a composite of your scores across 12 distinct aspects of intelligence. Each person has a unique intellectual make-up, with strengths and weaknesses that affect their methods of understanding, recognition, communication and association. Using a carefully cross-reference scoring scheme, TestCafe is able to accumulate a profound quantity of information about your natural intellectual abilities.”

Unfortunately they wanted me to pay for the full analysis, which I’m not going to do for something that took a few minutes :)  This is my favorite test because it says I’m smarter than any other test I’ve taken :)  Mensa, here I come!

The next IQ test I took can be found here.  I was average on all of them except verbal where I was Excellent…more on that

Your age adjusted IQ score is 112 and the average score of all test takers is 100.

According to this test you are a word wiz with a very high verbal IQ! You have probably read lots and are likely to be well aware of the numerous advantages of expressing yourself in a precise manner. You appreciate the sometimes subtle differences between words and can easily communicate to others what you really mean. Overall you have a much better understanding of the intricacies of communication than most people. Remember there is no ceiling to your knowledge and you can improve your verbal ability infinitely.

This one was a bit lower than my actual results so I don’t like it as much.  In my defense, however, we had a storm and the power went out while I was trying to take this one soooo my guess is that lowered my score.  These tests being timed and all.  I suppose then that this one is more accurate than the other.  ::sigh:: No Mensa for me :(

Speaking of Mensa.  If you take the tests and decide you are Mensa material you can visit their website here!

How did you do on your IQ test?  How accurate do you think they are?  Are you a member of Mensa, if so what’s it like being that smart?!

Green Meditation

Editor on June 2nd, 2008

I chose this meditation video because I liked the very calming music and I liked the green in the meditation video.  The elephant and green mandala work well to help focus and relax your mind.

What did you think of the video?  Do you like meditation videos that have nature sounds or someone talking better?  Or is music what soothes you?

Thunder and Lightning Meditation

Editor on May 26th, 2008

This Meditation video has some striking images of lightning and rain.  The background music is of rain and thunder.  It is a shorter video and great when you need a quick pick-me-up to help you become more focused.  Take a little meditation break for yourself today, you deserve it!

Water Meditation

Editor on May 19th, 2008

This video has the sound of rain and running water and images of the same.  It is very relaxing and a great way to focus your meditation.  You can close your eyes and meditate while listening to the water or you can let your mind drift as you listen and watch the video.  During a busy day it is important to take time and let your mind drift.  The short time you take for your meditation will make the rest of your day more productive.

Mediation with Nature

Editor on May 12th, 2008

This video is of a forest and has the sounds of nature instead of voices or music.  I find it to be very relaxing and a good form of meditation.  You can meditate while looking at the images of the forest change or you can close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the forest as you meditate.  A great way to clear your mind and relax.  I find it easier to focus on work after I have relaxed a bit.
